Help serve hungry kids this Summer!

Love working with kids? Passionate about hunger relief? Just need to get out of the house this summer? Help with Neighbors’ Summer Meal Program! Volunteers are needed to serve meals, wash down tables and help with food prep for breakfast and lunch shifts at Heritage Middle School, Somerset Elementary School, Lincoln Center Elementary School, South St. Paul Secondary School and Kaposia Education Center. Each school will have a skilled and friendly cafeteria staff worker to train you on whatever task they need help with. It’s easy and fun!

Your school or workplace can adopt a school for a week, or you can simply pick shifts as they fit your schedule. This is a great opportunity to spend time with a grandchild, work with a friend, or assemble a team of coworkers to do a team-building project. Or just volunteer on your own—some of the schools need just one person to help—you could be the one to make a difference!

Youth aged 14 and up may volunteer without an adult accompanying them (but will need to have a completed parent/guardian permission form on file with Neighbors—the sign-up form below will include that if you need it).  Children aged 10-13 may volunteer with a parent or guardian accompanying them.

A quick note on dress code: the schools require that volunteers wear closed-toed shoes and hair restraints. Volunteers may bring their own hat to wear, or the school will provide hairnets.

Existing volunteers can go here to login and sign up for shifts.  Click the “My Schedule” tab to view openings and sign up.  You can also reset your password if you do not remember it.  If you are new (welcome!), you will need to set up a new account here.  If you are a group leader, make sure to select the group leader option.  If you are planning to volunteer as a group, make sure to book slots (you don’t need names) for each person.  Please contact Scott at scott@neighborsmn.org or 651-306-2153 with any questions.
