Celebrating 50 Years of Serving Our Community

In response to a local economic crisis, six area churches met in January 1972 to form an association to help people who were struggling. The purpose of this association was to “provide personal assistance primarily through the use of volunteers to individuals in need.” The association, which would later become Neighbors, Inc., was led by volunteers, and initially focused on providing food and clothing. Throughout the years, the programs and services at Neighbors have continued to adapt to meet the changing needs of the community.

Today, Neighbors serves our community through multiple hunger relief programs, financial empowerment counselling and access to resources such as clothing and household items. Neighbors is where it is today because of the generous support of our church partners, community partners, businesses, schools, civic organizations, volunteers and donors. These relationships are what make up the Neighbors family!

The original philosophy of “neighbors helping neighbors” is as true today as it was 50 years ago. Thank you for being part of this milestone anniversary. With your help, we will  continue to provide meaningful service to the community for years to come.
