Have you noticed your grocery bill going up in the last year?  You are not alone.  In the last 12 months, our Hunger Program has provided 900,000 pounds of food to over 60,000 individuals.  That is 130,000 pounds more than we provided the previous year!  We have seen many new faces who have been hit hard by inflation and other circumstances.

Here are some of the ways Neighbors has responded to the increased demand for services:

  • Thursday afternoon food distributions:  Quick walk-in service expands access for more people.
  • Expanded hours Wednesday evenings for food appointments and Clothes Closet Thrift Store.
  • Third Saturdays: feature an additional food distribution and Clothes Closet sales.

As one food shelf recipient shared, “The food we received helped us through very difficult and uncertain financial times, and gave us peace of mind that our two kids would have enough to eat. It was so helpful to know we could rely on Neighbors in our times of need to get us through.”  Neighbors is committed to making sure everyone in our community has what they need to thrive.  We need your help to continue this valuable work.

I am writing to you today because July is a great time to give to Neighbors, thanks to the Open Your Heart Summer Challenge.  Open Your Heart to the Hungry and Homeless provides a proportional match to all funds received by Neighbors this month, boosting the impact of your gift!

Our goal is to raise $5000 to maximize the July matching opportunity.  Your generosity makes a difference to people in need.
