Don’t you love this time of year, when the landscape starts turning green and the flowers are in bloom? Now is also the time when many are starting to plant their gardens with fruits and vegetables to harvest later in the season – including Neighbors! We have four planters on-site that are maintained by a volunteer, with everything that’s grown heading right into the food shelf for distribution to local families. We’ll be posting updates throughout the summer, so check back here, like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to watch our gardens grow over the coming months!

These plants will be providing tomatoes to the food shelf later this summer!

These plants will be providing fresh produce to the food shelf later this summer!

If you’re a gardener, we hope you’ll consider your neighbors in need as you start planting this spring. There are a couple ways you can help:

  • Have extra room in your garden? Consider planting a row for Neighbors and donating what grows from those plants.
  • Have a bountiful harvest? Give the extras to us, and we’ll get it to those who need it.

Donations can dropped off at the food shelf – located at 222 Grand Avenue West in South St. Paul – between 8:15 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Ring the doorbell next to the garage door on the lower level.
