It’s time for a different kind of food fight!

Did you know that one in 10 Minnesotans doesn’t have enough food? Or that Neighbors’ food shelf serves about 550 people a month? Hunger is an issue in our community that can’t be ignored.

IMG_2189Want to help? March is the perfect time to throw some food and/or funds our way. Donations made this month will stock our shelves now and help with future funding. Not only is this especially important as we work to prepare for the busy summer months ahead when kids aren’t getting meals at school, but it’s also Minnesota FoodShare month. During this time, food shelves from across the state compete to see who can raise the most food and funds. The results then help determine how much FoodShare money we receive later in the year. That means a gift now goes even further.

Last year, Neighbors placed fourth among Minnesota food shelves and we aren’t pulling any punches this time around – our goal for 2016 is a combined total of 300,000 pounds of food and dollars. Want to get in on the action? Here are a few ways you can help:
