My final stop on the 2019 Neighbors’ Food Fight tour was the Mississippi Pub in Inver Grove Heights. The Pub is one of the few places in the Twin Cities you can sit on the banks of the Mississippi River and enjoy a cold drink with the featured All American Burger while watching boats and barges navigate one of the world’s greatest rivers.

The All American Burger is half a pound of 100% angus beef patty layered with American cheese, lettuce, onion, pickles and homemade thousand island dressing. The burger was freshly prepared to medium, but not over cooked. It had a great flavor with maybe a hint of seasoning, but I can’t confirm how that is accomplished. The American cheese was proportioned well for the burger. The red onions and lettuce were crisp and fresh. All of this in an artisan, lightly toasted bun. For sides we ordered the seasoned hand cut fries and onion rings. The fries were great, the onion rings were standard fare.

The relaxed atmosphere at the Mississippi Pub is great for meeting friends, family, or just hanging out. Special note: Our visit was just one day before the Pub was temporarily closed due to spring flooding that has cut off safe access to the restaurant. If you didn’t get a chance to try their delicious burger, they’ll be up and running again as soon as they safely can.
