Minnesota’s 24-hour online give-a-thon – Give to the Max Day – is almost here!

GTMD16NIPlanning to participate? This year, your gift to Neighbors, Inc. can go even further thanks to a dollar-for-dollar match up to $7,500 provided by a generous anonymous donor.

Curious about what your gift means to the community?

  • $35 can provide a reliable ride to a medical appointment
  • $50 can cloth a family for a year
  • $100 can feed a family for a month
  • $350 can help a family avoid eviction or utility disconnection, repair a car or pay a medical bill

All donations stay local to help our neighbors in need in northern Dakota County. For example:

A woman was at the food shelf recently and the volunteer shopping with her noticed that she seemed a little shaky. He asked if she needed something to eat or drink, or if she needed to sit down, and she explained that she hadn’t had anything to eat since lunch the day before. With a family of five to take care of, she clearly had been making some sacrifices herself. Because of the generosity of our donors, the Neighbors food shelf was able to provide her with 250 lbs. of food (50 lbs. per family member) – enough to feed them all for more than a week.

New to Give to the Max Day? It was created in 2009 to launch GiveMN, a collaborative venture led by the Minnesota Community Foundation and many other organizations committed to helping make our state a better place. The initial spark touched off a blast of online giving — $14 million in 24 hours. Since then, Give to the Max Day has become an annual tradition. Every year, thousands of organizations and individuals generate donations and excitement for Minnesota causes that are working to improve the quality of life for all Minnesotans.
